As I have studied Agriculture I saw a lot of times that people use dirty/sewerage water to irrigate their lands/farms where vegetables are grown. No one stop them to do so. Clean water supplies are dwindling around the globe. To grow their crops, farmers resort to using untreated wastewater, which could make them sick — to an even greater extent than previously thought.

Problem

When this water is used to irrigate lands, heavy metals and microbes accumulate on the soil that ultimately stored in the vegetables. When these vegetables are consumed by people they get sick.

Some vegetable seller also use sewage water to wash vegetables that causes a lot of health issues in the people.

I think this should be stoped or must be discouraged. We can not check each sabzi wala that where he bought these vegetable and how he wash them. So the question is how we can avoid this? Here I come with an idea to avoid this and save people from health risks.

Solutions

The first solution comes to our mind is “Grow your Own” that is also advertised as Kitchen Gardening. Because everyone will be responsible for his/her own act. He/Her will cut what he sow.

The second solution that can lower these risks is public awareness. Seminars, Advertisements and farmer meetings to educate them and to aware them about the health risks associated with the use of sewage water.

Bussiness Oppurtunity

A system or firm can be design to avoid these health risks with the following steps:

1- Contact and choose the farmers that uses ground or clean water.

2- Visit the farms weekly and help farmer to avoid the access use of pesticides.

3- Collect the vegetables from the farmers and pack them in a safe material.

4- Put the bar codes on the packaging that stores the details of harvesting (e.g. date, batch) and farm. When and from where we collect the vegetables.

5- After packaging we can deliver the vegetables boxes directly to the consumer.

This will definitely make trust relation between farmer consumer and the team.

Benefits

1- Farmer will get handsome amount for its vegetables on time.

2- Consumer will get the safe and quality vegetables.

3- Will provide a lot of new job opputunities.

4- This will also encourage other farmers to stop using sewage water and produce quality vegetables.

5- This will force vegetable seller to stop playing with people health.

An additional thing I wish to add in this project is “Delivery on Bycycle”. By this we can spread a message to lower air pollution and it will also be beneficial for health of deliver man.
